Is the Pakistani smash hit Tere Bin an imitation of an Indian show

After weeks of being a cultural phenomenon and a ratings success in Pakistan, the popular television drama Tere Bin has come to an end.

The cast of the hit drama, including Yumna Zaidi and Wahaj Ali, were trending on social media, but the plot of the series finale alarmed viewers by bearing an uncanny resemblance to the 2013 Indian soap opera Madhubala-Ek Ishq Ek Junoon.

Despite its success, Tere Bin ran into legal issues when it was accused of plagiarizing other works.

A video of the drama soon went viral online. Fans have drawn comparisons between Yumna’s scene and one from an Indian soap opera in which another character, Drashti Dhami, tries to jump off the terrace but is saved by another character, Vivian Dsena.

Twitterati caught wind of the plagiarized script and began comparing it to the original scene, raising questions about whether or not the scene had been stolen.
